On this side of the Atlantic, they have a slightly better than average field gathering for the Barbasol Championship a little bit outside Lexington KY. Based on the Hawley Ratings, four of the top 100 players (Seamus Power, Charl Schwartzel, JT Poston, and Richy Werenski) are in the field, plus seven more from the top 125.

Power, a 34-year-old from Ireland who is in his fifth year on the Tour, is the pick from this perspective. He is at a career-high no. 63 in the ratings (although only 210 in the Official World Golf Ratings) after a very nice spring and summer that has seen him make eight cuts in a row with three top-10s (Deere, Rocket, and Nelson) and two additional top-20s. After Power, Beau Hossler is probably second in terms of the strength of the upswing in recent appearances. He missed the cut at the Deere but had three solid finishes prior to that, notably a top-10 at the Travelers. Also, Jim Herman and Schwartzel have nice recent finishes.

The top fits for the course are a closely bunched quartet of John Huh, Power, David Lipsky, and Brian Stuard. The top statistical predictors of success on Keene Trace have been shots gained around the green, shots gained off the tee, and driving accuracy. Note that the field contains over five dozen players without sufficient Tour appearances this season to be included in the statistical rankings; the highest-rated among these wildcards is Sahith Seegala.
